As regular students of Kadpoly Main Campus embark on their well-deserved vacation, business owners within the campus are feeling the negative impact of this break. The reduced number of students, particularly in the evening, has caused a significant decline in business activities, leaving shop owners grappling with the dryness of the campus.
Traditionally, the main campus of the Kaduna Polytechnic (Kadpoly) thrives on the bustling student population, both regular and evening students. Many local businesses have flourished by catering to the needs of these hardworking individuals, who often require various provisions, food, and other essentials during their studies.

However, with regular students now enjoying their vacation, the campus has become notably quieter, leading to a considerable drop in clients for the local shops and eateries. The evening students, who make up a significant portion of the campus population during this period, are mostly working-class individuals who are occupied during the day, further exacerbating the problem.
Shop owners, who rely heavily on student patronage, expressed their concerns regarding the decrease in business activities. They highlighted the impact of the reduced footfall, stating that sales have significantly declined since the commencement of the vacation period. Many shopkeepers are now struggling to cover their operational costs due to the sudden drop in revenue.

In response to this challenging situation, some business owners have resorted to implementing various strategies to attract customers during this dry spell. Offering discounts, introducing new products, and providing personalized services are among the tactics being employed to entice the limited number of students present on the campus.
